Summary
In 1996, Zonge collected 5 lines of CSAMT data in an area 5 kilometers east of Valle de Olivos near Hidalgo de Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 2002, La Parrena, S.A. de C.V. made public their surface geology and drill hole results for the property that included this area. This Zonge case study contains a comparison of the CSAMT data as imaged by Zonge’s “SCS2D” inversion software with the geology and drill results. SCS2D is a 2D smooth-model inversion code that models flat-lying geology and high-angle contacts, as well as resistivity changes associated with topography.
Mineralized sulfides are the primary target at Los Olivos. The modeled CSAMT data clearly identifies important geologic changes including metallic-luster sulfide mineralization and sericite alteration appearing as conductive sources. By comparing the initial CSAMT data with actual drill hole results — including confirmed copper findings — we were able to demonstrate the validity of the CSAMT results and point out additional areas within previously-identified conductive zones that merit further test drilling.
